So Many Different Ways Trump and Republicans Are Hurting American Families
From screwing farmers to screwing parents to taking away health care coverage, this group of Republicans keep the hits coming
My wife and I did a quick trip home to the Midwest to see family a few days ago, and all week long we kept getting reminded of all the different ways Trump and his sycophants in the Republican Party are hurting Americans.
Even the most pro-Trump farmers we talked to were acknowledging that the farm economy was hurting because of tariffs and erratic trade policies.
A family member with a long term disability was getting his meds and surviving because of Medicaid but may have trouble keeping it when the cuts go into effect.
Someone who works with another relative had written an impassioned letter to members of Congress, which they gave to me, about how a child care program they had relied on was shutting down. The program, the Child Care Access Means Parents in School, The program in Lincoln had operated through Southeast Community College, and provided summer day care and child care during non-school days at Lincoln Public Schools. The two fulltime working parents have not been able to find alternative because of several childcare centers being closed in recent years.
Both the person who wrote this letter and her spouse work full time. They both have multiple college degrees; they are not poor. But they have no way to take care of child care for their young children. Does this make any sense?
The hits are going to just keep coming. Cuts to school lunch programs, food stamps, and utility assistance have already gone into effect. The subsidies that allowed middle income folks to get health care coverage under the ACA are eliminated at the end of the year. The money that was creating jobs in the wind, solar, and EV industries is cut way back.

So much damage, in so little time.
We have a lot of organizing to do, and we have to keep helping each other make it through these hard times.
