Mike, I agree. So when is the party going to execute? What are our Bold Moves? Would you agree we need a healthy intervention so that some of the apologists for the lack of showing our power to date are at least motivated to act? If there is a reason or an excuse for everytime what should happen doesn't happen, it's hard to implement your vision.
Thanks for the note, Susan. I think an intervention is needed, but I would liken it to a rolling intervention: we need more and more people to speak up, all the while building critical mass. It's going to take much more than one meeting, or one video, or one column, or one petition. Those of us who beleive in fighting need to keep building momentum in everything we are doing.
Agreed as to momentum. And, what would be your suggestion for intervention(s)? When a company is not doing well, usually there are interventions to shake things up and try new approaches, what would you suggest in that vein? And, no one thinks one anything will do the trick ( that's simple minded) but it is also not helpful every time a suggestion is made or a criticism articulated to have it dismissed or explained away. How can there be progress under that scenario?
Can you tell me why nobody picks up on Andrew Strom's obvious idea (the kind of thing we all should have thought of): federally mandated, cert/recert/decert labor union elections?
Nothing could bring back the Obama-Trump voters faster -- get out of the way of the stampede! What could the Republicans possibly say in defense against. People are desperate for this -- hand ourselves our unionized future on a silver platter.
The only working people I talk to these days are folks unloading deliveries or taxi drivers (80 years old). Half of them have no idea at all what I am trying to say -- that's laborless America. THE OTHER HALF ARE DESPERATE FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS. DESPERATE!`
One of the most disconcerting aspects of this battle is there is no battle and definitely no battle cries emanating from our elected Democrats with the exception of a few.
I thought you points were well taken until we got to "none of this is simple stuff". That is the kind of nonsense typical of inside punditry. What you described in terms of the reactions of working people is very simply. They want to see someone fighting for them. As my wife, a Mt. Holyoke graduate said "... we need to see the blood on the floor... ." Chris Murphy is on the right track. Carville is in right field, and you appear to be willing to go a long way there to meet him. No thank you
Yes to the all out fight back. But if this was simple stuff, we would have won the least election. Voters are complicated people, with a lot of reasons for making their choices. We need to respect that fact.
